There are still two years of environmental study to be completed, which will determine the exact route of the road, Heckman said. The builders, Cintra Zachary LLP, said that
within five years of the completion of the environmental study, a huge portion of the road can be built.
Based on prior road construction in Texas by the State to basically complete a 300+ mile roadway in five years is unheard of. Sounds like an investment in concrete plants/truck dealerships, etc maybe worthwhile.

No cost has been set concerning the tolls. The state will own the toll road in about 50 years, Heckman said. At that time, the state will decide if the road will stay or a toll or not. Any doubt what that decision will be?
Light a fire! Burn the toll booths!

B.O.H.I.C.A!!!! "totalization" by fiat:
The Windsor-Detroit crossing, currently serviced by a bridge and tunnel, handles more than one-quarter of Canada's trade traffic with the U.S. and is the busiest in the country.
The new bridge, expected to be completed by 2013, would link Highway 401 to the U.S. Interstate I-75 and would also involve the construction of new customs inspection plazas and connecting highways.

It may stop south of San Antonio (I-10) but we are under major construction from Mexico to 37 on highway 77. We needed it but why not before?

The current example of this type of tollroad, the Harwin tollway is now jammed to the hilt. This just is not going to work.

This is going to be Texas's Big Dig. Lots and lots of pockets are going to be filled. Unions, road builders, politicians and other hoo-haa merchants. People, towns ruined, taken over, Kelso'd will get short shaft, officially, with Texas and Federal legal cover.

Those things freaked everybody out, Heckman said. This is how high public officials speak?
To: Tolerance Sucks Rocks
Heckman said its a valid criticism that the new road will take land away from private ownership Any land confiscated must be paid at the HIGHEST appraised value. This TTC is worth a trillion dollars to big business and they can afford to pay top dollar to displace Texans, if that is what a majority of Texas want.

Any land confiscated must be paid at the HIGHEST appraised value.
The operative word is 'confiscated'. Now tell me how a government that came into existence to PROTECT the rights of the INDIVIDUAL, has been so corrupted that some other members of this society would laud the confiscation of property for 'big business'? How does that protect one's individual rights and the rights of our fellow citizens?
If 'big business' and those criminals in our government pushing this deal truly believed in business(not fascism) and the free market, those business interests would purchase the properties themselves, and NOT use the state and federal governments for their FORCE on citizens.
The whole project illustrates how far from freedom our government has fallen, and how well the cloak of fascism suits some so-called Americans.
