I think several of the decisions that have been made have undercut the military's strength, clout, and morale. As stated somewhere upthread, the decision to pull back instead of taking Fallujah the first time was one of these.

I believe the decision to wait on Fallujah until there was a Constituion and until there were some Iraqi security forces who were ready to go was signed off by the CIC.

I don't think it was a bad decision.

It was the first battle in which Iraqi security forces participated and it worked.

It wouldn't have been a bad decision, if that had been the plan all along. The first time, if you'll recall, the Marines were on the verge of taking the city & were called back because of objections from the Iraqi government.

This made the U.S. and the Marines look weak, and it wasn't good.

The problem all along has been trying to run a P.C. war and give the new Iraqi government a say in it. Maybe if it's our guys and our reputation on the line, we should run the show.
