I think the simplest solution is for Microsoft to just say, "Fine, you're not covered by it." In which case the Indians will be the poorer for it - Linux developers will not be inclined to put their distributions in this language either, if this is the reaction they'll get. Same holds true for Mac OS X.

That sounds like a great plan. Then when the last of the Indians is crying about how their language will die with them, this article can be given to them and they can see that they had a chance for the world to keep it alive.
