A supporter of the French football club Paris Saint Germanin was shot and killed by police Thursday night after a UEFA-cup game against the Israeli team Hapoel Tel Aviv.
The tradgedy occurred outside the stadium Parc de Princes in Paris after PSG had lost against Hapoel with 2-4.
According to police sources a lonely Hapoel fan was surrounded by 150 fans from the Parisian club on a street outside the areana. A policeman hurried tthere and fired tear gas to disperse the crowd.
He then fired two live rounds. Two PSG suporters were hit and one of them was killed. The policeman was forced to flee from the rest of the suporters and took refuge in a hamburger resturant. The police put in reinforcements to quench the unrest, and an internal investigation regarding the shooting was immediately initiated.

It's a scheduled nap time built in to European TV programing. We have that colored swatch pattern here, but in Europe they have a bunch of gay guys standing in a circle, bent over hugging each other. Or maybe they are all looking for a dime somebody dropped, I'm not quite sure. I've never stayed awake long enough to see if they found it.
This got me to wondering how many vehicles these "yoots" could torch here in Lubbock. I would bet against anything more than 3 before they were all gunned down like rabid dogs. Maybe Allstate et al should encourage gun ownership just for that reason. New York and Massachusetts insurance carriers may be in some difficulty though.

Paris: 1 dead as cop defends Hapoel fan
By JPOST STAFF AND AP
A plain clothes police officer shot into a crowd of skirmishing soccer fans Thursday as he tried to protect supporters of Hapoel Tel Aviv, killing one person and injuring another, police said.
The 11 p.m. (2200 GMT) incident at a McDonald's fast food restaurant near the Parc des Princes stadium occurred after Hapoel Tel Aviv's 4-2 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in a UEFA Cup match.
The police officer, who was not identified, was trying to protect a Hapoel Tel Aviv fan set upon by some 150 PSG supporters, police said.
The officer lobbed tear gas when the crowd went after the Hapoel supporter then fired two shots, "having been driven into a corner," police said.
Two PSG fans were injured, with one dying later, police said. The victims were not identified.
The Paris prosecutor's office and the National Police General Inspection unit, which probes incidents involving law enforcement officers, were investigating, police said.
Hapoel Tel Aviv spokesman Amir Lubin told Army Radio that throughout the match there was a very hostile atmosphere towards Hapoel and its supporters. "The Israeli crowd, who came to support their team, really wound up the local fans," said Lubin.
"We could hear the chants of the French crowd which were in no way connected to football," he continued.
"It was obvious that the PSG supporters were enraged by the result of the game but we didn't imagine it would come to this," he said.
What if the cop is a black nigerian Muslim, and the victim is a white french Jew, or Christian? What do you suppose the French media will do then?
If they blame the cop and fire him, do you think we could still expect a great massacre of Citris cars and Renaults?
Probably so. I'm not sure that firing a cop would get the yoots' blood up as much as one of their own being killed, but it doesn't take much.
Did the Lonely Jew duck - Twice...?
Watch for the usual bunch of "soccer bashers" to arrive on this thread with their trite and shopworn insults. They allegedly don't enjoy the sport, yet flock to every FR soccer discussion that is posted! I'm glad to read the French police were working to gain control of the situation.

There has been a few of those already. But I take it on my chin, and I won't start any rampage or car-be-cues!
:-)
Then they must be supermen. I used to go to Raider games at the Coliseum. Once I remember counting 18 different fights going on simultaneouly in different areas of the stands.
The cops landed a helicoptor in the middle of the field and then brought in horse mounted cops to regain control of the stadium.
Regards.
I once saw an ad for French MAG rifles which had been converted from that awful French cartridge to 7.62 NATO.
The add read "Converted French Rifles. Never been fired and only dropped once."
Hilarious.

Well it's on first page in Le Figaro
(http://www.lefigaro.fr/france/20061124.WWW000000201_un_supporteur_du_psg_tue_par_un_policier.html)
He took refuge in a McDonalds. Typical to run to anything American for protection.
What is said here http://tf1.lci.fr/infos/france/faits-divers/0,,3359488,00-sarkozy-avait-dit-etait-policier-.html
is that the mob was screaming death to the Jew...
Moreover in this http://www.lefigaro.fr/france/20061124.WWW000000419_supporter_tue_la_piste_raciste.html
it is also said that they wee screaming death to the Jew, death to the N... (the policeman was Black) and making monkey noses and doing the Nazi salute....
Seems like some Europeans are still living in the WW1-WW2 timeframe, still hate the Jews. Anti-semetic fools, and they say Americans haven't learned from history.
It would have looked like a single Israeli cop confronting a mob of 150 Israelis to protect a single French fan.
A lonely Jew against 150 PSG fans.
So what is that French cop who singlehandedly took on the mob to save that lonely Jew? Chopped liver?
Yeah, the cop was French but let's give credit where credit is due.
Lots of racism connected to fans of the large soccer clubs in France, Italy and the Netherlands. It doesn't say but my guess is that we are dealing with the usual "youths".
Most likely.
The typical "soccer basher" is likely upset that top-tier soccer players are stronger, faster, fitter, and financially richer due to the fact they have risen to the top of the world's most popular sport. It puzzles me why the bashers actively scan for the "soccer" keyword to participate if they allegedly despise the sport so much.

Prayers for the victim. May he rest in peace.
