Cultural Diversity ping?
Not fasting?
As in, during Ramadan?
As in, that would be a nice piece of information to know, wouldn't it?
Are the ants OK? PETA wants to know whether to sue or not.
Sound just a wee bit extreme?
Two years don't seem like enough. 'Course, the headline made it seem like the guy was abusing the ants - somehow.
"Oguhebe had maintained that he used punishments that were customary in his native Africa."
Ok, then. The Multicult approves.
Screw your native Africa.
No wonder parents have no problem committing child abuse, if all they get for it is a slap on the wrist like two years.
This man is a college professor. He is not some ignorant peasant. I find his defense that "it is customary in his country" to be less than forthright. He knows damn well what the customs are in this country. The judge should have given him the maximum sentence.
I also picked up on the whipping the boy for not fasting part. Another Muslim who no doubt wants to bring Sharia law to Mississippi.
We have to import college business professors from Nigeria? What does he teach? How to send out scam e-mails?
I thought Antabuse was what they gave drunks to keep them from drinking any more.
Wonder how long it took him to catch all those ants. Must be some kind of Nigerian mojo.
That's what I wondered when I saw the words "ant abuse" in the title. Turns out it was actually child abuse.
Variously described as a "professor of business studies" or "associate professor of management." For example, see here:

And yes, Mississippi seems to import a lot of professors from Nigeria and other African countries. See here:

nah, he chained the magic turtle to the tree and they all came running....
He's damn lucky that logic doesn't apply to his punishment....
I recall a case in NYC where some woman from Denmark(?) left her baby alone on the street while she had dinner in a restaurant. The creepy woman used the same excuse of "In my country . . ." even though she was in the company of a native New Yorker. Naturally she got off and the last I heard she sued the city.
Typical misleading AP headline....the ant wasn't abused. The child was....!
Must have been one of AP's political headline writers.
