Governors ask President George W. Bush for more federal money for imprisoning illegals

PHOENIX: Governors of nine states, including California, are asking President George W. Bush for full federal reimbursement of what states are spending to imprison illegal immigrants.

The list includes Washington state, whose governor in July sent an invoice for nearly $50 million (€39 million) to the Justice Department for unreimbursed costs.

Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano's office said she and California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger are leading the effort to increase funding for the State Criminal Alien Assistance Program administered by the U.S. Justice Department.

The states want Bush to include the reimbursement money when he submits his proposed federal budget next year.

Until the federal government secures its borders, the SCAAP funding is needed by states that have "to fill this gap by policing the regions and incarcerating criminal aliens at their own considerable expense," said a letter signed by the governors and released Tuesday.

Other states whose governors signed the letter include New Mexico, Iowa, Tennessee, New Jersey, Oregon, Oklahoma and Kansas.

Gov. Anibal Acevedo Vila of Puerto Rico also signed.

Great. Anyone care to guess where FEDGOV gets "their'
money from?

Why not find out where the illegals come from and send the bill to that nation?

Makes a helluva lot more sense than fisting the taxpayer (one more time).

Illegals are imprisoned? For any reason? First I have heard of that.

I thought catch and release was the settled policy.

There's a simple cure for this problem of illegals in prison. Just give them amnesty and they aren't illegal any more. See how easy it can be when you don't care about your country's sovereignty.

Getting really tired of having that happen too. Wasn't there something about a harbor, and some tea?

Seal the border. Deport the criminals. Jail the employers. Or we may need to start dumping legislators in the Potomac.

These are the illegals who commit little state crimes, after they get here, like robbery, rape, murder, incest.....

The feds should just send back a form letter to inform the governors that
illegals are just doing jobs Americans won't do.
And that the USA would collapse without them.

Feed the governors the same Bravo Sierra the Feds shovel at us
civilians every day.

You mean give US hell, Gov's - its our money. Simple deportation plan starts with imprisoned illegals.

Didn't you dump a whole bunch of politicians in the Potomac 2 weeks ago. Now, with that kind of thinking, you want to dump even more of them?

Gad, Nancy Polosi must be happy!!!

"Seal the border."

"Until the federal government secures its borders, the SCAAP funding is needed by states that have "to fill this gap by policing the regions and incarcerating criminal aliens at their own considerable expense," said a letter signed by the governors and released Tuesday.

The Governors of the States requesting money should just increase the taxes in their states so that the people will feel the impact of these illegals on their pocketbooks and start enforcing the laws of the land by keeping the illegals out of the USA!
