Why do the US and Israel remain in the UN or support it in any way? I don't get it.

I am taking your question very seriously. I don't know but can only speculate.
In view of Diogenesis's post #8 and the 'Final Plan' of the UN... I speculate that we stay in order to prevent the UN from carrying out their Final Plan.
