O.J. Simpson's former sister-in-law, Denise Brown, has accused News Corp. of trying to buy the silence of her family and that of Ronald Goldman with "hush money" before Simpson's book and TV deal fell through this week.
"They wanted to offer us millions of dollars. Millions of dollars for, like, 'Oh, I'm sorry' money. But they were still going to air the show," Brown told NBC's Today show on Tuesday. "We just thought, 'Oh my god.' What they're trying to do is trying to keep us quiet, trying to make this like hush money, trying to go around the civil verdict, giving us this money to keep our mouths shut."
The families' response to the offer, Brown says, was "absolutely not."
A spokesman for News Corp. said the families were indeed offered all profits from the planned book and TV show but said it was not intended as hush money. "There were no strings attached," News Corp. spokesman Andrew Butcher told the Associated Press.
Before News Corp. pulled the plug on the project, Simpson and News Corp. imprint HarperCollins were set to publish If I Did It, a book about the ex-football star's hypothetical role in the 1994 murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman.
A companion two-part interview on FOX, also owned by News Corp., was scrapped as well.
Shuddup! Michael Richards is a RACIST, that's newsworthy! (And as we learned from the Simpson trial "RACISM" is a worse offense than murder!)
Fox News has sunk to the bottom of the scum filled MSM pool along with CNN, ABC, CBS and NBC
What did 'Fox News' do?
O.J. Simpson's former sister-in-law, Denise Brown, has accused News Corp. of trying to buy the silence of her family and that of Ronald Goldman with "hush money" before Simpson's book and TV deal fell through this week.
This seems odd. I saw Fred and Kim Goldman interviewed by Van Susteren last nite, and nothing of the sort was said or implied........
I noticed that NBC News this morning blamed Fox News for something that Fox News had NOTHING to do with.
This was Fox TV, which is affiliated with, but not directly involved with Fox News.
Its like blaming Nevada for something that California does.
Heads should roll at Fox.
What's with the Browns and Goldmans? For years they have been saying what a murdering scum Simpson is. Now that he agrees to show how he became a murdering scum they object? The book and the film could be taken as an admission of guilt. Brown/Goldman could tweak the story told by Simpson in a way that would eliminate the accomplice. Plus they would get the moola. They did sue for the moola. I'm tired of all of them.
You do realize it was't FoxNews that was doing this, right?
There's a bit of a difference between FoxNews and the Fox channel.
FOX News is not affiliated with FOX Broadcasting.
FOX news is still a part of the lamestream media that we detest. They may be a little fairer in giving voice to conservative journalists. But the end result is the same.
"FOX News is not affiliated with FOX Broadcasting"
Only according to you and Bill O'Reilly.
Good lord!
I wish this broad would get another hobby.
I'm the first one to say that Simpson is a scum and should just go away, but this phony righteous indignation by the other news outlets is disgusting. NBC itself interviewed Simpson several years ago. CBS interviewed Timothy McVeigh and Saddam Hussein.
It's as if they are lumping FOX entertainment with Fox News...talk about a straw-man.

'The Fox Broadcasting Company, usually referred to as just Fox , is a television network in the United States. It is owned by Fox Entertainment Group, part of Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation."
You are correct, there is no affiliation between Fox Broadcasting and Fox News except they are both owned by News Corp and controlled by Murdoch.
Don't we get a special prize for posting at exactly the same time?
Hehehe, that's cool.
Maybe we'll get a special mention in the memo JimRob sends to the White House to set the days agenda.
