Pierre Gemayel is the name of the elected leader who yesterday was assassinated in Lebanon. Bashir was his uncle who was assassinated 25 years ago. Are you saying Bashir's father was also named Pierre? If so, I don't see the signifigance of that fact. I thought we were discussing the assassinated Pierre Gemayel from yesterday's incident.

President-elect Bashir Gamayel was killed in 1982 in a bombing of Kateb Party hq by a Syrian agent. (The guy was supposedly independent, but the Syrians let him out of jail in 1990 when the took over!)
Bashir's older brother is Amin, who became president. Their father, the founder of the Kateb party was also named Pierre Gemayel. The assassinated minister, Pierre Amin Gemayel, is named for his grandfather.
