Yes, CTNF has always been 50 years in the future, and always WILL be 50 years into the future. The only reason this boondoggle is still alive is Charles Vest, president Bush's science advisor. He's past pres of MIT, and one of the good-old-boys who OWN the DOE and its river of CTNF funding over these past decades. Instead of dumping Rumsfeld, GWB should have dumped Vest(of Vested interests), the DOE top management; and cleaned out the USPO as well. But, sigh, typical american response to a problem(energy independence) : throw money at it. Never mind that it's a stupid dog and pony show for technically incompetant lawyers, just THROW MONEY AT IT!
