Too bad we got out of the HUMINT business 50 years back, it could have come in handy.

It was more like 30 years back with the Church Committee and this self-promoting a-hole Hersh was a driving force behind that palace coup.

Church fancied himself as President, and Seymour saw himself as the all-wise guru. All that happened in the aftermath is that America's enemies got bolder and stronger, Church went to answer to his maker, and Seymour got richer and richer. I would have figured he had enough to retire by now, but I guess he still needs the buzz from the Greenwich Village hate-America brigade.

Ditto Ditto,

Somehow the Church commission, in their infinite
wisdom, believed that by reducing our HUMINT
and the CIA removing "shady" individuals from
their payroll, that this would somehow, make the
world a better place.

Be it the welfare state or global intel, once the
LIBs get involved, it will take a monumental
undertaking to correct the negligence of a
generation....JJ61
