Pretty amazing that a sleeping pill can wake the brain dead. Amazing things can happen when you make unruly parts of the brain sleepy. I recently spoke with the sister of former middleweight world champion Gerald McCalellan, whose brain was damaged in a fight back in '95. She says that in the last hour or so before he goes to sleep, it's like "talking with the old Gerald." She theorizes that as his brain winds down, there is less "static" for his mind to punch through.
