Like the sorcerer's apprentice, some in the media are desperately trying to control the destruction wrought by the product of their labors. The 527 Media - those politically-activist media who present campaign ads as news -- worked long and hard to convince the nation that the Democrats weren't wild-eyed liberals. The Democratic congressional candidates including their leaders were, according to the media script, trustworthy moderates. But the Dems have read too much into the election results and while they've hit the ground running, their media pals are icing their path hoping to slow them down (and in the case of Jack Murtha, stumble). How could it have gone so wrong? It didn't: the predicament was predictable.

Hasn't gone wrong at all.
Has gone just as planned.
Merely trying to convince the sheeple that their new leaders aren't as 'wild-eyed' as they really are.
Nothing to see hear, move along...
"I am John McCain. I have written laws during my years in Congress that almost make me a shoo-in for President in '08."
BEWARE MCCAIN!
Just because this guy says it's a problem doesn't mean it really is.
As I said, the goal now is to convince the electorate that the liberals they elected aren't as wild-eyed as they appear.
It's not a 'problem', just part of the manipulation of the electoral system.
You really must stop believing that politics is in any sense 'real'. It is totally managed and has been since at least the 1930's.
"In politics, nothing happens by accident. If it happens, you can bet it was planned that way."
Franklin D. Roosevelt
"their media pals are icing their path hoping to slow them down..."
How do they figure? The Dems have made asses of themselves, true. But to attribute this to the media is just plain crazy.
Babbin's closing paragraph got my attention.
Should the New York Times beware the Ides of December...???
I didn't say it. Franklin D. Roosevelt said it. I'd say he was in position to know.
Of course you would be told to take off your tin foil hat. The ruse only works if people believe it isn't true.
'Just 'cause a guy is paranoid doesn't mean that they really aren't out to get him.' ;-)
If I told people what I saw they wouldn't believe it unless they saw it with their own eyes it was so bizarre.
I have a feeling I would. After two years reporting on the political scene, there was one politician I respected -- and he resigned his post six months after I left my reporting job because he wouldn't put up with the BS.
I believe politics is the filthiest job on the planet. Nothing comes close, AFAIC. Prostitute? Bad, make no mistake, but not like politics. Drug dealer? Simple commerce, illegal though it is.
Nope, I've seen normal well-adjusted men and women become the next thing to psychotic after two to four years into an elected term of office. Miserable.
From the Mayor on down to the cops, that's all I will say.
