Dump Pelosi? Let's put the new House speaker on probation.

I'll admit my timing could be better, since the incoming House Democrats, on a unanimous voice vote, just made Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., speaker of the House. But I think her party should give serious thought to dumping her.

The proximate reason, of course, is that she tried (and, thankfully, failed) to install as House majority leader Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa. It's bad enough that Pelosi promoted Murtha (over the perfectly acceptable Rep. Steny Hoyer, D-Md., who won the caucus vote) in spite of Murtha's having once been named an unindicted co-conspirator in Abscam, a 1980 FBI sting operation in which G-men posing as representatives of an Arab sheikh offered $50,000 bribes to members of Congress.

Hee, hee, hee. Even Slate Magazine has buyer's remorse. Even Timothy Noah-nothing just got the memo that Nancy is a putz!

In 2008, we should help the Dems withdraw from the HOR. It's already a quagmire!

It's amazing how she's not getting any honeymoon. I would have thought her enemies in the DemocRAT party would have waited till January 4 to start their infighting.

Timothy Noah, in particular. The guy is a sycophant.

Oh, I think she will probably be more helpful to the Republicans in the majority leader chair. She's more visible that way.

The SNL skit on Pelosi's SF values was priceless and right on target.

...Murtha's having once been named an unindicted co-conspirator in Abscam...

Notice Murtha no longer gets "decorated Vietnam veteran" attached to his name every time he's mentioned in the press? My, how things have changed.

The press no longer suffers from electile dysfunction when reporting on the moral shortcomings of Democratic Congressmen.

Nancy's woes in the House of Representatives are entirely self-induced. She has NEVER been a good loser or a gracious winner. And team playing is not for faux-patricians of Italian descent.

Catherine de'Medici lives.

Yeah ... amazing what a simple paper ballot by the rats did in a few minutes what half of pennsylvania and many supporters of Diana Irey couldn't do ... Dump Murtha.

If Senators are representarive, America doesn't want Murtha NOR Pelosi.

Murtha has been gerrymandered into that district. If Irey comes back two years hence, Fat-Jack may be ushered into retirement by Rahm Emanuel. The Dems will act to hold this seat. They are happy to toss Murtha under a bus.

Honeymoon? Heck, she hasn't even walked down the isle yet, and taken her vows (been sworn in). The marriage may be over before it even happens.

The real facts about Nancy's approval will be known in a few weeks.

It is called "Counting the Money".
If the money comes in, then all is forgiven. If the money drops off or "the well goes dry", then she is history.

they didn't dump him for a member of the GOP.

Those stickers should have all read: "anyone but the GOP"

And thats how the dems voted in 04 & 06, and how they will vote in 08. Bet on it.
