Kramer made a major mistake, one of the worst a comedian can make: he wasn't funny. Add to that he offended some of his audience, and he's now got less fans who are willing to spend money to see his act. I don't know what was going on in his mind, but what he did was both offensive and stupid.

I for one would love to hear Jay Leno's reaction to that unfortunate performance. Leno--who has continued to do stand-up comedy even after taking his current Tonight Show gig--would be stunned at how Richards totally lost control of that stand-up comedy performance.

I have to agree with you. I saw Leno perform at the Lowell Auditorium way back when, before he was even close to aspiring to hosting the Tonight Show. He was completely clean and as hard as it may be to believe, more entertaining than he is today.
