The msm/DBM would go all out to destroy candidate Newt,IMHO.

They would work against him harder than anyone, not that he could win anyway.

We think in terms of the smartest guy will win, trouble is that doesn't always happen.

Newt is the worst nightmare of the msm/DBM. They realize he knows every trick they are trying and is always one step ahead of them. Besides he is a common sense conservative--that is like a silver bullet/wooden cross to the msm--they would die a horrible death dealing with him.

A candidate like that could ruin their day, they would do anything to prevent him from getting elected.

The only way for any Pub candidate to win in'08 is to draw from independents and those "Reagan Democrats" who will crossover to a nominee of substance. Dubyah won in 2002 because of the Pervert from Hope's effect on the nation and that the fact that Gore's lunacy was, fortunately, visible to just enough of the public to do him in.

I continue to have grave doubts that Newt would be able to draw from the constituency that I've described above. However, I also hear those who, rightly, champion the need to run hard on the Conservative message. Newt is at a crucial juncture; he must, IMHO, go out at every opportunity to test the waters. His description, this morning, of McCain was masterful as he quickly laid out the anti tax cut, anti free speech etc. aspects that must always be attached to the wandering John.
