Replace "conservative non-voter" with GOP and you would be closer to correct.

The GOP has to get votes. Complaining about votes they didn't get serves absolutely no purpose whatsoever.

It is the GOP that let everyone down, not some mythical block of "conservative non-voters"

The sooner we conservatives get this, the better. We need a GOP that cares about the things you listed and more.

I agree with you. I'm sad we lost the election, but you're right - it's the GOP that left the voters - not the other way around. I held my nose & voted straight GOP, but I wasn't happy about it. I've felt for some time that no one was listening to me.

Here, in this forum, we are more dedicated to the cause than your average American voter. Most people just won't bother to vote if the candidates don't light a spark with them. You can blame them if you want, but I don't think it's their fault.

Even after the loss, I find myself wondering if they are listening now - or if they are still taking my vote for granted.

Right on man, sing it to the people! I don't understand getting mad at non-voters. That is like some crappy sports team crying about low attendance.

It is the job of the party to get votes. The party failed.

The GOP never had enough votes in the Senate to do anything meaningful(ANWR, Social Security, permanent tax cuts...). Now we get the opposite agenda without the votes to pass. Gridlock sucks

Oh we get it just fine. It's those "roadkill" RATpublicans that didn't get it for years, and apparently still don't get it. I use this whiner thread as evidence of such. Blackbird.

Correct.

In my district, about 10-15 percent of Republican voters simply did not show up to vote. They hid under their pillows.

They were effectively demoralized by the "record number" of deaths in Iraq, which the Bush-hating media repeated over and over the last two weeks in October.

And others were distressed and upset that pervs like Foley could have been 'hidden' in the GOP-led Congress all these years.

Not to mention jailbirds Cunningham, Ney, and Abrahamoff.

And the Bush Admin, with the GOP congress, totally screwed up any benefit the GOP MIGHT HAVE GOTTEN from the immigration issue.

Yes, they passed the border fence, but it was so late in the election cycle that it GOT LOST in the haze as the bomb throwing partisans gobbled up all the news cycles.

And then it was reported that the GOP Congress did not properly fund the fence, which meant that a future Congress could simply squash the whole thing.

So the pro-open borders crowd was ticked at the GOP, and the anti illegal immigration crowd was ALSO ticked at the GOP.

What a disaster. The GOP has itself to blame mostly, along with some blame naturally to the DNC-network collaboration news.

I agree. I'm tired of the blame for the election results being placed on "conservative voters". The Republican Party failed to uphold conservative values/issues to the degree that was necessary to hold support. I'm hoping this slap will wake the RP from their slumber in time for '08. We'll see.
