Saturday, Nov. 18, 2006 7:39 a.m. EST Bill Clinton: Economic Adviser for Mexico

Former U.S. President Bill Clinton said he sees great potential for economic growth under Mexican President-elect Felipe Calderon. "Mexico has a great opportunity," Clinton said Thursday at a business conference in the northern city of Monterrey, during a question-and-answer session broadcast on Mexican TV network Televisa. "I would love to be working with the new president of Mexico. I would love to be his economic adviser," said Clinton, who served as U.S. president from 1993 to 2001. Clinton said he would advise Calderon to give greater support to Mexican companies. Calderon, a business-friendly conservative who narrowly won election June, is due to replace outgoing President Vicente Fox Dec. 1.

"Bill Clinton: Economic Adviser for Mexico"

What's his advice, become president during a dot.com boom and leave as the economy is going through a downturn?

The way I figure it, clinton has long had economic relations with Mexico. He grew up with the Dixie Mafia in Hot Springs, has been involved in the drug trade since he was a teenager, had friends and donors in the White House from the highest reaches of the drug trade, and almost undoubtedly got his five percent for all that stuff coming in over the border.

He used the DEA mostly to stop smaller rivals from interfering with the profits of the big drug lords, to all appearances.

He was also involved in the Mena Airport drug trade to Nicaragua while he was Governor of Arkansas.

So, I can easily guess what he might be going down there to discuss. Maybe they might discuss that car that was stopped the other day with six central Americans and three Albanians, also his pals in the drug import business since he handed them Kosovo and doubled drug imports into Europe.

Uh... actually, Mexico may be about to undergo one. It won't be as profitable as the U.S. version, but even without home computers, everywhere you go in Mexico you have computer access. I was once in a small jungle town where there were pigs sleeping in the street, and there was an internet cafe (with a thatched roof) doing a boom business. Even Ross Perot is investing in Mexican computer industry.

Whether Bill Clinton is the best person to advise Caledón, I can't say, but there are some similarities. Clinton's political success was in making his party appear conservative. Calderón, a minority president (again, like Clinton), will have to sell his policies to the left if he is to govern effectively.

Wow, this is really bad. Imagine the corruption, drug running, bribery etc that Mexico...will now learn to do better.

"I would love to have the opportunity to squeeze some extra foreign aid for Mexico out of the United States or the UN. With, of course, a little kickback for my offshore accounts."

Not that I'm cynical about anything that pukes forth from Bill Clinton's mouth.

Is there a Senorita Monica in Mexico available to service the needs of El Presidente Clintonista?

Wait a minute... I know I'm answering myself, but I posted before I'd actually read the article (not a good idea!). All Clinton did was talk to a TV reporter and say he'd like to be advisor. So would a lot of people. Free advise is worth what you pay for it, so never mind.
