Don't expect him to expose the overblown salaries of the HSUS directors and employees, or the minute amount of money they spend on helping animals (ANY animals, including cats and dogs). And don't expect him to reveal that all those tax exempt millions they raise annually don't go toward spaying, neutering, housing or feeding animals, but instead go to lobbying for/against political condidates friendly to/against animal rights goals.
And this is not just about hunting, it is about medical research on animals, wearing fur, what you eat, the effort to destroy the agricultural interests in this country, and on and on.
Ping.
"thankful doves".....hmmmm
With the brain barely the size of a pea, I would think that pretty much the only feelings doves would have are being hungry, full, sleepy, alert, hot, cold and horny for doves of the opposite sex.
Harvey is an idiot.
I don't know if it's my imagination or what but Harvey has been trashing President Bush and the war in Iraq a lot lately also. I guess he's just getting old.
Sheesh.
Pigeon? I always love it when the spokesman has a name directly tied to the story!
You go girl..!!
Taking an animal's life simply for the fun of it is an ugly act which reveals something significant about the person who does it.
Does Paul Harvey still have an audience? I could never stand to listen to him. My grandfather used to listen on his car radio, but he's been dead almost ten years now. My father can't stand Paul Harvey either.
While I don't agree with Paul Harvey on this one, my gosh, isn't he around 100 years old? If this is his "thing," who cares? He is entitled to his opinion.
I remember listening to him in the car when I was a little girl. He was an old man THEN.
Paul Harvey ought to go out and thank every hunter he sees. Does he have any idea how dangerous it would be for his old a** to totter across the parking lot if mastadons and sabretooth tigers were rampaging through it??? He can thank hunters for that.
I suspect nature will silence Mr. Harvey long before any opposition to his political stances. I have enjoyed his broadcasts and unique take on the news for years. I will graciously allow him one issue to separate us.
Paul Harvey Aurandt (born September 4, 1918), better known as Paul Harvey, is an American radio broadcaster for the ABC Radio Networks. He broadcasts News and Comment at 8:30am ET in the morning (5 minutes) and at 11:30am (15 minutes) Monday through Friday and at noon on Saturday, as well as his famous The Rest of the Story.....
Old Paul has finally lost it.....
It's time for him to back away from the microphone.......
He's there to hawk products, nothing more.
Proposition 3 was destined to lose here in Michigan. The HSUS dumped over a half million dollars into the anti-dove hunting campaign and successfully sued the state to put a temporary ban on the hunting. 2005 was the first year we ever had the hunt and it was very limited as to where they could be shot.
This year we don't know how much they spent yet on their intense advertising campaign but you can bet it was alot. And with the ads they were running, there was no way they were going to lose.
The Prop 3 supporters blew this one but they really didn't have a chance anyway. They should have focused all their attention on the financial backing and agenda of the HSUS instead of a lame attempt to say dove hunting is fun and they taste good.......The sight of a freshly shot dove flopping on the ground which was used by HSUS resulted in overwhelming support for voting down the proposal.......
I saw nothing anti-hunting about it, just a humorous poke at a truly weird turn of events that ought to be seen as cooky at best.
Maybe it helps to have no perspective or agenda when listening to his pieces.
He was poking fun, not saying that this was a 'great thing'.
Some of y'all are a bit too sensitive...
