Help Lower Energy Costs by Expanding Access to America’s Energy Supplies (Take ACTION here!)

Every five years, the Minerals Management Service (MMS), the government agency responsible for oil and gas leasing in the U.S. offshore, develops a Five-Year Plan. That plan determines where and how often oil and gas lease sales will occur over the next five-year period. The next plan will determine where oil and gas leasing will occur during the period 2007- 2012. Thus, if an area is not made available in the pending five-Year Plan, oil and gas leasing cannot occur in the area until beyond 2012.

MMS designs the plan based on the input from the public. The MMS is now accepting comments on the Proposed Plan through November 22, 2006.

Let Washington know you support reasonable access to America’s onshore and offshore energy resources.

We need YOU to make your comments to the MMS. The deadline for them is November 22nd -- THIS COMING WEDNESDAY!

If an area for drilling is not specified as available in the pending five-Year Plan, oil and gas leasing cannot occur in that area until 2013 at the EARLIEST!

Keep in mind that the OCS (Outer Continental Shelf) contains enough natural gas to heat 100 million homes for 60 years or enough oil to replace current Persian Gulf imports for 59 years. Unfortunately, the Federal Government has held back 80% of the country's OCS from oil and gas exploration and production.

-- and please tell everyone you know will help. Thanks.

Yes it is.

But it doesn't look like it needs our help to get any leases allowed, as this one does.

The more projects there are the safer we'll all be.
