Rove May Leave Within Weeks
U.S. News & World Report ^ | November 17, 2006

Posted on 11/17/2006 12:00:02 PM PST by West Coast Conservative

The rumors that chief White House political architect Karl Rove will leave sometime next year are being bolstered with new insider reports that his partisan style is a hurdle to President Bush's new push for bipartisanship. A key Bush advisor tells the US News Political Bulletin, "Karl represents the old style and he's got to go if the Democrats are going to believe Bush's talk of getting along." The advisor said a departure might come in "weeks, not months." A Rove ally, however, noted that he has a record of out-witting his critics.

Don't like someone from Oct saying it? Ok, I'll say it: Rove has been a disaster.

All I heard this election from GOPbots was the fearmongering "If you don't vote R then it's gonna be pelosi, Murtha, etc, Hillary in '08". Sorry, that doesn't cut it.

F.O.H (Fear Of Hillary) and its close relatives will not win us the White House or our majorities in '08.

We have to have a credible agenda, ideas that people want, continuity with the historic Republican platform.

"Always remember, the Demos are aborting themselves out of existence"

But the flood of illegal aliens into the US will more than assure that we will never again be the majority...whether the liberals are aborting themselves out of existence or not.

I voted for Bob Corker, Republican, TN., for US Senate. And we won, too.

With a strong candidate we should be fine in two years with a House and Senate majority as well as the Presidency.

Ohmygod, you're one of those unappeasable optimists!!!

Knock it off or I'm callin' the mods!

Drive By Media. The general public don't know it if the media won't tell it and tell it often. John Q. Public likes catchy slogans like "Its time for a change" or "throw the bums out!"

Please ... if you can put George Bush in the same category with Carter .. I see little room for dialogue.

I was disagreeing constructively. I don't Bush has been a 'gracious' (read: loser) president. That would be Carter. Or maybe Ford.

Real presidents are made of sterner stuff. Bush is a real American president, whatever his other flaws might be. I'll bet Laura and his mom think he's a sweet man. And he probably is. But I don't think either of them would tell you he's gracious or diplomatic. Not his strong suit, thank goodness.

My other comments were mostly about Congress and the courts refusing to do their prescribed duties. But it is their duty and it's our job to make them do it.

Sorry Howlin, but I don't know what you mean by Patsies and Stormtroopers...if that makes me ignorant, oh well!

I have always liked and respected President Bush, but I think he's too weak, too "go-along-to-get-along," and has never gone after the Left ruthlessly. I also don't think he is a conservative, but I campaigned heavily for him both terms, making hundreds of phone calls and walking many precincts, as well as for my local Senator and Congressman, and several Pro-Life measures on the ballot.

It just seems like President Bush, and the GOP as a whole, are content to be the minority party, like the bad ol' days of Bob Michel that I remember with such dread.

the one thing Rove supposedly taught everyone was that the secret to winning elections was to energize the base. Hannity, Limbaugh, etc. would have been glad to have helped energize that segment that would have voted on this theme that sat home instead because they weren't as energized by the war in Iraq as they are by the WOT.

Screw the bipartisanship.

We didn't elect Dubya six years ago to get along with Democrats.

We elected him to NOT get along with Ds.

I think what we're going to see out of the prez for the next couple of years is a rubber stamp for whatever the RATS want. He's already proved that he's a big spending liberal, and that's right up their alley.

The election is over and now Bush has the RATS all lined up to help him pass a broad amnesty with more benefits for illegals than Americans have.

The president can't be given credit or take blame for things he isn't responsble for or has no authority over.

Tell that to some of the whiners here in FR.

What many don't seem to realize is in this day and age you'll win more with a 'little give and take' than stubbornly standing your ground for 100% which has proven time and time again is a sure way of losing.

I see it already happening for 2008, too.

Bush may empty FreeRepublic of Bushbots as he finally flies his true colors.

Don't some folks find the combination of your position and your screen-name confusing?
