British intelligence officials believe that al-Qaida is determined to attack the UK with a nuclear weapon, it emerged yesterday. The announcement, from an officially organised Foreign Office counter-terrorism briefing for the media, was the latest in a series of bleak assessments by senior officials and ministers about the terrorist threat facing Britain.
UK officials have detected "an awful lot of chatter" on jihadi websites expressing the desire to acquire chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear weapons....
The warning comes after a speech last week by the foreign secretary, Margaret Beckett, on the terrorist threat facing the UK, and a rare public outing for Dame Eliza Manningham-Buller, the head of MI5, who warned that there were at least 30 active plots to attack Britain.
With new counter-terrorism measures to be unveiled in tomorrow's Queen's speech, the weekend saw Gordon Brown back an extension to the time for which terrorism suspects can be held without charge, beyond the current 28 days....
For al-Qaida and jihadis, a devastating nuclear attack on Britain, not just the use of a "dirty bomb', would be part of the desire and agenda to cripple the west, sources said....
The network of the rogue Pakistani scientist Abdul Qadeer Khan, which is feared to have sold nuclear technology to Libya, Iran and North Korea, was broken up three years ago, but there are fears that other illegal networks may exist.
British counter terrorism officials believe plots they have thwarted and plots they claim are being hatched have strong links to Pakistan. They say hundreds of Britons travelled in the past year to Pakistan for terrorism activity, including training in camps and acting as couriers for messages. Officials also believe Britons are taking cash to terrorists in Pakistan.

The Brits need to send a lot of money to Piglosi, Durbin, murtha, Kennedy, Kerry, Obaaaammmma, Boxer, Barney Hotdog, and other rats.
Then the rats can nuance with the non existant al Qaeda threat.
Or the Brits can round up the Americans, who overtly and covertly support the Islamofascist and put a stop to the danger of these lefties.
Sounds like the Brits may be learning not to support GW and our WOT.
I am a bit partial to what is under the Dome of the Rock. Remove the abomination but do it in less spectacular way.
It's a way to attack us without the 100% guarantee that we'll nuke Mecca in retaliation. It's evil. Similar thinking to when radical Muslims rig bombs to go off twenty minutes apart in order to kill those helping the wounded. It's evil. To think like them you have to think within the constructs of the depraved - or criminal street gangs. So, here's my guess - they'll want to nuke a major city in England - maybe London. Then they'll announce they have bombs in every major American City - or in six or ten whatever... Then they'll issue directives - threats - we do this or else... After a stall while most of us high tail it out of our cities, we retaliate in one full sweep. We'll get one bite at the apple before the Chinese and North Koreas get involved - we need to do it right...

I'm going to have to buy some, I live close to NYC, often thought about what traffic would be like going west after a dirty bomb hit the city.

If that happens, maybe we will finally throw out the rules and bury their asses. If our country would ever get pissed off and say enough is enough, they would find out quickly that they are no match for us.
Yup. They'll want a high casualty rate and my part of rural Alabama can't give them that. There are more people in Houston, Texas than in my whole state.

Perhaps I'm being overly optimistic, but I think if London were nuked, we would respond overwhelmingly against:
1) Iran
2) Pakistan
And I believe that for either party - GOP or the Dimwits. Terrorists crossing the nuclear threshhold would have to mean the end of their sponsors - guilt by association, and I daresay that even the worst of Democrat president nightmares would be compelled to go overwhelmingly nuclear in defense of the UK. This hypothetical scenario transcends (almost) all political boundaries.
