THis is going to be fun to watch.
The fact Pelosi put this joke of a gasbag up for Speaker in the first place ought to tell you how much of a circus things are going to be in the house for the next 2 years.Majority leader, not Speaker. But your point is still well taken. Even if she did this just to placate the Moron Base, it shows what she's going to have to do to placate them in the next 2 years. One Moron Move after another, I'm sure.
Did you all see the look that Murtha just gave Hoyer when Hoyer extended his hand for a shake!
If looks could kill.
Classic go to h---.
LOL
Re#144 so said the Prowler yesterday. See #40 above...
<< MURTHA TO DROP OUT OF RUNNING [Update- Hoyer Wins!!!-Vote 149-86] >>
What a pity.
Although, never fear, I guess, even without her favorite unindicted co-conspiritorial companion, Ms Pelosi and the impeached judge and Ted and Chris and Pinky Reid et al will soon have them "Dems' back home in their sewers again.
I'm glad Murtha didn't get the vote, that he is not the #2. At least, mostly glad. After hearing Rush's comments, I think it might have been nice, even fun, to have a Pelosi-Murtha led majority, and then let them show us all what there politics are really like.
Honest question - and for full disclosure, I'm a Democrat (albeit I consider myself moderate) - How does Murtha's loss or concession hurt the GOP?
From Murtha's Wikipedia entry:
"Murtha is a Democrat with a relatively populist economic outlook, and is generally much more socially conservative than most other House Democrats. He opposes abortion, consistently receiving a 0% rating from NARAL; however, he supports stem-cell research. Murtha was also one of the few Democrats in Congress to vote against the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act of 2002. However, he is strongly pro-labor, and opposes both NAFTA and CAFTA. Like other Democrats, he opposes Bush's tax plan and Social Security privatization, and he also opposes the Federal Marriage Amendment. Unlike other Democrats, he generally opposes gun control, earning an A from the National Rifle Association He supports conscription and is generally more hawkish than other Democrats currently holding office.
In 2001, Murtha was a co-author (with Congressman Duke Cunningham, R-CA) of the Flag Desecration Amendment, which passed the House of Representatives, but not the Senate.
In late 2005, he led the effort of House Democrats to offer a motion to endorse language in a military spending bill, written by Senator John McCain, a Republican from Arizona and a fellow Vietnam veteran, that would prohibit abusive treatment of terror suspects.
Pelosi now trying to put her best face on this one. (Insert joke here)
OMG- Murtha will be chair of the House Defense Appropriations Committee...
what a nightmare ..

Rep. Steny H. Hoyer (D-Md.) was elected House majority leader this morning, defeating Speaker-designate Nancy Pelosi's candidate, Rep. John P. Murtha (D-Pa.).
Pin on a happy face.
Oddly, although I expected a round of "breaking" diaries at dKos, there's just on front-page post indicating the total and saying it wasn't even close.
As a moderate Dem, I gotta say - I couldn't care less who won that, Murtha or Hoyer. I didn't like the division it created out of the gate, thought - it was counterproductive and, frankly, unnecessary.
They must be using Diebold machines./sarc
Maybe he hired Karl Rove to do "THE math"?
Seriously, Murtha's a lying, corrupt, bombastic a-hole, and he would have been a great poster boy. NOw we're stuck with drab ol' Hoyer. [yawn] I liked "Spendy Horror", BTW, whoever came up with that handle.
Think of it this way. Murtha has already sufficiently made a fool of himself. Time to give someone else a chance to do so as well.
That sounds interesting. And promising, too! In that case I hope he smashes the little twit to pieces...
Murtha will not go away. Prissy Chrissy will see to that.
