The CSOs left, returning minutes later, and police officers arrived to escort the student out. By this time the student had begun to walk toward the door with his backpack when an officer approached him and grabbed his arm, at which point the student told the officer to let him go. A second officer then approached the student as well.

If he was leaving then they should have just let him go, sounds like petty tyrants at work here.

_____________

I sort of agree. The part that really suggested that was, here's a guy you shot with a taser on the floor, the cops want him to stand, and when he doesn't, they taser him again. But I'm sure that the general tenor of this thread will be like the poster of this article editorialized "he's a california college kid, therefore he's a communist." Yawn.

Yep!! Hopefully the university will fire them and he will press charges for battery.

This wasn't in yesterday's news accounts. The story is morphing to portray LEO in the worst possible ways.

The library checks id's late at night to protect students from rape and robbery. If I was in charge, I'd just start closing the library at 9 pm and see how they like the results of student non compliance with safety measures.

Stupid marxist brats.

It sounds like we in no way, shape, or form have the whole story, but only a slanted retelling. We have no idea what they were after him for. The UCPD are not called just to ask someone to leave the library. There are underlying factors not told here, that the reporter has no way of knowing.

Don't believe a word of this story. No comment from the cops and a couple of kids who only saw what happened after the ruckus. I highly doubt Mr. "Now you see the violence inherent in the system, help I'm being repressed!" was coming along peaceably.

"If he was leaving then they should have just let him go, sounds like petty tyrants at work here."

Not necessarily. You might be right, but consider that just because he was walking isn't an indication that he was really cooperating. He could have been walking very slowly. He could have been making numerous comments designed to be disuptive to the atmosphere. If such was the care, it would not have been inapproprate to grab his arm to speed up his exit.

When the CSO's asked him to leave, there must have been some comment or reaction from the guy that caused the CSO's to go get an police officer. Perhaps this guy is a known blowhard that has caused problems in the past and would have been expectedto cause problems again - especially if he was saying things or his body language was indicating he was working up to being a jerk. This article leaves a great deal of info out and appears to be slanted to put the officers in the worst light possible. More info, alot more, is needed before we Freepers can say, with clarity, that the officers actions were right or wrong.
