Several articles have been posted on FR on this incident. This one, from the student newspaper is the only one to claim he was in the act of leaving when approached by UCPD.
Placing your faith in the accuracy of a student newspaper is unwise.
The downside to this sorry POS's behavior is that the University will relax security measures in response to the stupid liberal/marxist outcry and some other student will be robbed or raped as a result.

Please post links to those other articles. The only other account I've seen is from AP and only quotes the spokesperson for the cops.
I'm just going by the information presented. Based on what we have here. The cops are the ones who committed a crime.
