"Since the 'newly empowered' libbies won't be able to get any of the nutty stuff past Bush's veto pen"

Overall, a good column, but I have a hard time believing this bit, seeing as GWB has only vetoed one bill during his entire term in the White House.

After signing the abortion known as "Campaign Finance Reform", it is much more probably that GW will sign anything that reaches his desk.

The Iranian Ambassador to the UN had just finished giving a speech and walked out into the lobby where he met President Bush.

They shook hands, and as they walked the Iranian said, "You know, I have just one question about what I have seen in America.

President Bush said, "Well, anything I can do to help you, I will."

The Iranian whispered "My son watches this show 'Star Trek' and in it there is Chekhov who is Russian, Scotty who is Scottish, and Sulu who is Chinese, but no Arabs. My son is very upset and doesn't understand why there aren't any Iranians on Star Trek."

President Bush laughed, leaned toward the Iranian ambassador, and whispered back, "That's because it takes place in the future."

A more appropriate image IMHO would be one... with the helicopter on top of one of Saddam's former palaces, and a line of braying donkeys depicted, scrambling and climbing on top of each other in an effort to board the departing helicopter(s.)

;0)

The Dead Sea Squirrels

READ: Deuteronomy 6:4-9

You shall teach them diligently to your children. —Deuteronomy 6:7 Our family was excited to visit the  Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit that was coming to town all the way from Israel. These ancient copies of the Old Testament provide evidence that our Bible has remained accurate over the centuries. Our nephew Daniel was so elated about this outing that he told his schoolmates, “Our family is going to see ‘the dead sea squirrels!’” We all laughed when we heard his misquote. His little ears had turned a word he had never heard (scrolls) into a word he did know (squirrels). And in his childlike enthusiasm, he also knew that the family was going to see something wonderful!

Daniel’s excitement underscores an important spiritual aspect of parenting. Values are transmitted to our children not only by what we say but by the emotions we convey. Both content and heartfelt appreciation for God’s Word can be communicated to children in a variety of ways (Deut. 6:4-9), including what they overhear in our conversation with others.

Young children may not initially understand each spiritual idea we discuss, but they can catch the importance we place on it. Children pick up on spiritual values and grow in understanding as we express reverence and excitement about the Word of God. Dennis Fisher

Lord, give us wisdom to provide
The proper atmosphere
To lead our children in Your ways
By what they see and hear.  —Sper

Train up a child in the way he should go—but be sure you go that way yourself.

I fear we here in TN while keeping the seat republican sent another 'moderate' to the senate. Time will tell. At least we kept the LIBERAL, pro-abortion, anti-gun, never met a tax hike he didn't love harold ford, JUNIOR out of the senate.

Jackasses take Congress...

'Tis gonna be an interesting two years. With any luck, those jackasses will be fighting so much with themselves, nothing will get done in the next Congress, and it's we the people who win. No new socialist programs to tax the mind and wallet.

Yep, gonna set it on cruise-control and watch 'em self-destruct.

Great Essay and accompanying graphics, JH2 and dutchess.
