Our country is sooooooo over.

Our country is not so weak that a simple shift in social mores can destroy it.

At the end of the day, I couldn't care less who marries who.

I'm with you. A Birth Certificate is just a piece of paper. Look at all the children born every year with the Father listed as "unknown". It can be changed later if the child prefers. No worse in my mind than naming your child Blue Sky or Killer. It is the homosexuals desperate plea for acceptance and further demonstrates their insecurity.

"At the end of the day, I couldn't care less..."

That pretty much sums it up, doesn't it?

I disagree. It is precisely our social mores that make us who we are as a nation. If we no longer wish to form "a more perfect union" and strive for the ideals of our founding as enumerated in the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, Federalist Papers, et al, we will cease to be a nation at all.

Maybe this particular instance won't empty the sandbox but the sand is shifting under our feet...

You better think deeper than that. Or we are really in trouble. Sit back and really think . This is a lot more than a simple social shift. Don't look at what is obvious. look at what is not so obvious.

Is that all it is to you - a simple shift in mores? I worry about the children who are going to be living with these types. Years down the road, we're going to see the fallout from such unnatural family relationships.

You don't care, meaning you have no core values or core principals, and that's fine for you, but don't criticize those that do. They are the ones holding together what is left of reality and rationalization in this country.

Reasons why this is wrong have already been posted here, very sound reasons, apart from religious ones.
