Unbelievable--today's Globe says former MA house speaker Tom Finneran is being considered for a WRKO job--if he doesn't go to prison. Link below. If they want someone who's (allegedly) committed perjury, why not just ask Bill Clinton?

Finneran said to consider radio job

The former speaker of the House, Thomas M. Finneran, is in discussions with WRKO to host a talk radio show, according to a source close to the talks.

Finneran, 56, stepped down as speaker in September 2004 to run the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council, an industry association representing 450 pharmaceutical and biotech companies. He would not go on the air until after the perjury and obstruction of justice charges against him are resolved, the source said. The case is scheduled to go to trial in January.

According to the source, the resolution of the case would not affect WRKO's decision to hire Finneran, unless he is sent to prison. Finneran, who was paid more than $540,000 in 2005, is one of the highest-paid executives of a lobbying group in the state. It was unclear yesterday whether he would give up his job to host the radio show.

Finneran did not return a phone call seeking comment.

With Red Sox games moving to WRKO next season, the station is looking to turn baseball fans into faithful listeners by building its talk show lineup.

Asked to comment, Jason Wolfe, executive vice president of Entercom Boston, which owns WKRO, said, "I've had discussions with many people about many things related to this station."

Meanwhile, the station that gave us Chuckkkkkkk Laquidara,
Mark Parenteau, Ken Shelton and others in the past
is having John DePetro on this afternoon (on the Toucher
and Rich show) to explain "his side of the story". Ahh,
forget it, if it's on opposite Howie...

from DePetro.com: "I will be a guest this afternoon on Toucher and Rich on 104.1 FM, the Rock of Boston WBCN. I would love to speak with all of you, so feel free to call-in. These guys were defending me, so please be nice. I am not sure of the studio number, but the main number is 617-746-1400. JD"

Probably...acc. to WBCN website: " Fred Toucher: Fred is an angry man with few redeeming qualities. He never thinks he is wrong. It is amazing he even has two friends."

Below: a cartoon of John DePetro from his Providence days. The gent in the lower left hand corner is former Prov. mayor Buddy Cianci, part of the "Plunderdome" scandal

Oldies 103.3 in Boston is apparently all Christmas--oops,
all HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHoliday--till just after Dec 25.
(Any Chanukah tunes? Kwanzaa? They can't bring themselves
to say the C-word.)

While I do enjoy Christmas, Nov 15 is just too early for me.
They're now off my presets until I'm ready for Yule music.
Curse you CBS Radio! :) (And if you're in the Prov area
it's ho ho ho on 93.3 for the next month and a half...)_

Good question--it wasn't on the other night. Maybe they gave it up. They were running Noory/Coast to Coast instead. I think by contract they can't run a webcast of Rush, Drudge, or
Noory--or maybe they have to pay to run the webcast.

Anyway, Noory was on instead of HC replay

If they're gonna shoot down the proposal to wipe out the turnpike tolls they gotta at least be honest about it:
we want to save hack jobs.
