I had premarital sex before I got married.

Postmarital sex is much easier to avoid.... :-)

...This was a more modest proposal. The 21st Century Health Information Act would replace paperwork with confidential, electronic health information networks designed to save lives and money by eliminating medical errors...
A broken watch is right twice a day.
A short story by BufordP.

A Freeper and a statist were standing on a corner waiting to cross the street. In the distance a clock tower chimed 6 bells. The statist, looking at his watch said, "Right on time. It's 6 o'clock."

The Freeper said, "No it isn't, you Nazi brownshirt!"

The End.

Buy the book. Make up your own minds.

For me, he makes sense as a pragmatic visionary (my coinage).

Few can articulate our arguments as clearly.

You have to win the argument first to win the votes.

Ugh...that's the last thing we need. If he runs, I won't vote for him. We need to stop trying to recycle old leaders. Look for new ones.

NUETRALIZE NEWT! NUETRALIZE NEWT! NUETRALIZE NEWT!

Newtie blinked when he had Billy Jeff by the gonads. He ended snatching defeat from victory. Sort of like declaring Tet'68 a victory for Charlie and Ho when they were scared to death we were going to march on Hanoi.

Exactly what "baggage" does he have that precludes him from getting elected?

He has an R for party affiliation. All the Democratic-inspired ethics charges during his Speakership coupled with his marriage(s) would be MSM headlines.

Allen lost on "macaca"....imagine what the MSM would do to Newt.

Wait to be asked? What does he want an engraved invitation? That is arrogant to the highest extreme. He has a messy personal life. Stay away...you won't be asked.

Good point. You got us there.

13th Secretary of Defense under President Ford from 1975 to 1977.

21st Secretary of Defense under President George W. Bush from 2001 to 2006.

Rummy's not running the Republican party, silly. Completely different issue. Newt had his chance and he didn't succeed in the end. Rummy had his chance before and did. His boss didn't.

Whether or not you believe Newt can win, he belongs in the race.

What, are you nuts!? Newt talks like a conservative, but his actions aren't too convincing.

No more wimps (as candidates or in office) on the (R) tickets.

Or are you thinking he would be a scarecrow and would draw the fire away from a real candidate?

Either way, I hope you'll enjoy all the attention from Freepers incensed by your comment.

:-)

In politics, nobody moves on. Heck, the Dims are still whining about what Bush did or didn't do in the National Guard over 35 years ago.

After 40 years Newt (and Ronaldus Maximus) brought the Republican Party out of the wilderness. You'd be hardpressed to name any individuals who have done more for the GOP. If not for those two we wouldn't be belly-aching about losing the majority right now because we would never have had it in the first place.

I'd like to think the Republicans have a fairly decent bunch of candidates to field in '08 - Newt, Mitt, Bill Owen (Colorado Governor), Haley Barbour(?), Huckabee(?), Jeb Bush(?). Even Guliani and McCain are better than any the Democrats have to offer. I haven't bet my chips on any single candidate yet. Owen is my personal favorite but it's too soon to say before any of them have thrown their hat into the ring.

But here on FreeRepublic.com we'll be sure to eat our own before most have had a chance to make their case.

Because YOU'VE certainly never done that. Noooo...Buford always listens to people and doesn't ever try to shut people down before they make their case. *rolling my eyes*

They condemned Christ under the same charge. I'll take it with the same honor.

This tactic of the DBM only succeeds because the Pubs surrender. My plan is to call ALL of them out. Know your enemy and their weaknesses, know the DBM and it's weaknesses. When your "baggage" is put on display, make sure theirs is sitting next to it. When they mention you divorcing your wife, you mention their drowning of their girlfriend. When they tie you to a lobbyist, you tie them to communist China. If you have the b@lls to fight back they will cease fire. Acquiescing to their attacks only makes them bolder.
