One difference between the Huckabees and the Clinton's situation though is that neither are serving in public office, or seeking to. Hillary was running for Senate at the time the Clinton's left office. This seems to me to be a sort of "setting up house" registry, which is what the Huckabees are doing. I'm not sure what registry, other than bridal, that would fall under. But yes, for appearances, they could have waited until they moved out of the Governor's mansion to register.

Huckabee is still in office, and is being seriously considered for POTUS by the GOP...and that's the fact.

At the least, the registry is perceived as being a "Bribe" list rather than a "Bride" list.
