Do you think McConnell will be the "leader" of minority party in the Senate? Do you think he'll be the one "whipping" Trent and McCain and the others cats? Or vice versa?
When McConnell can prove to me he has what it takes to control those losers and battle the Dems to a standstill THEN I'll be pleased.
For the record I think he's probably a nice guy. Mostly conservative, though I'm still ticked on his vote for the "subject that shall not be named".
But he doesn't inspire confidence, in me anyway, that he can herd the cats, block liberal policies, and do swift verbal warfare with his enemies. Kyl, Sessions, Thune...Steele? Santorum? He is not.
It's hard to be estactic about his elevation given I have doubts he's the REAL minority leader in the Senate with this election.
The reason Ensign pleases me is that he IS a conservative, he's competant, quick and he WILL have some say in recruitment and fundraising for new possible Republican Senatorial freshman. He can make a difference, I'll be shocked if McConnell does. IMO, McCain still runs the Rep side.
Well, you may be right. And especially about McCain running the Senate.
If so, then all of this is moot anyway.
