You can always find a "yes but" reason not to support a candidate. The fact of the matter is the President has three chief duties: commander-in-chief, enforce the laws Congress passes (for those of you who seem confused on this point, the President does not actually pass laws) and nominate judges. In these three issues Rudy is by far be the best.
You think abortion should be illegal? No president can do anything about abortion until Roe is overturned because it would be "unconstitutional" according to Roe. The ONLY thing a President can do to end abortion is appoint judges who think roe should be overruled. Well Rudy is for strict constructionist judges; therefore his personal views on abortion are irrelevant. Any strict constructionist judge would be against Roe v. Wade because it's legal arguments are crap. There is no debating this. The are pro-choice legal scholars who think Roe should be overturned because it is so offensive to the Constitution. The Constitution says nothing about abortion. Since the federal government is one of limited powers, that means abortion is an issue for the states, since any power not mentioned in the Constitution belongs to the states. This rational applies
He is for states rights and for judges who actually read what the constitution says and not what they wish it said. Because of this fact, his personal opinions on social issues should not matter in his qualifications for president. They would matter if he was running for Congress or a governorship, but he is not.
Rudy is the man. He has my vote.
Excellent post in #184....excellent!
I said much the same thing in post #116, but not quite so eloquently...
