And in this connection, I can't help remembering the Ultimate Cheesy "statement" by President Clinton at the time..."The jury has spoken". That's all...the Jury has spoken.....
I will correct myself: It was more like "the jury heard the evidence and rendered their (sic) verdict. Our system of justice requires that the jury's verdict be honored.
Then something about how our sympathies should be with the families of this terrible crime.
Not as creepily hypocritical as I remember it, but every bit as carefully pandering.
