The Bible tells that:
- the Earth and Universe had a beginning
- the Earth was formless and void - long before that solar nebula theory and proto planets were proposed
- there was a time when there was no light long before cosmology was conceived of or the speed of light was known
- that the Earth and water became separated from each other, which would have happened at some point as the Earth cooled
- that the *heavens* were stretched out - long before the expansion of the universe was a concept
- that the Earth has a circulating system of winds - centuries before it was shown to be the case
- that matter was being held together before the forces that we now know (gravitation, magnetism, strong and weak molecular forces) were understood.
- there is such a thing as *before* and *after* time

The Bible addresses a great number of subject areas that are considered *scientific* knowledge and it does so very succinctly.

I agree that the Bible was not designed as a scientific text because it deals with ALL reality, something science doesn't (or won't) do; therefore it gives a more complete view of reality than science ever could. In the areas where it does deal with scientific subjects, it is amazingly accurate in providing details of things that the writers of those days had no way of knowing and is very efficient in putting it in terms that just about anyone, anywhere, with any educational level can understand.

Not bad for a 2,000+ years text.

If, for the sake of argument, life originated in outer space, how did that life originate? All the panspermia theory does is back the origin of life off one level. Still does not explain anything. Just passes the buck.
