"Oh, And how politically "smart" is it to announce that you are forming an exploratory commity 2 years out, giving your enemy's 2 long years to dig dirt on you?

Good question. I would say it gives him plenty of time to respond and make them seem insignificant.

And divorced!

Divorced people have market share in America. Maybe that will play better than Couples-in-Phony-Marriages (Klinton)!

A Rino from NYC aint gonna play in the south

Rudy is a rock star on the stump and has been all over the south in the last three election cycles.

He's got IOU's all over Dixie.

Is this a different nic, or were you lurking here, in November of 1998? Your sign up date is well into !

I was a signed up, posting member back then and had lurked here from early '97.

Had forgotten about Reagan's divorce. William holden was his best man at his marriage with Nancy.

Nancy Davis (4 March 1952 - 5 June 2004) (his death) 2 children
Jane Wyman (26 January 1940 - 28 June 1948) (divorced) 2 children

Imagine how they'll feel if/when Lieberman crosses the isle.

Which isle is that? Bermuda is nice this time of the year.

Yes, they do and perhaps it will.

After all, until Reagan, NO divorced candidate had much of a chance to win the presidency. He really broke that taboo.

And what I was posting, which your replied to, was that any complaint about Rudy being a divorced and remarried man, doesn't matter, because Reagan was also divorced. I think that you might have misunderstood my rather cryptic reply.

Governor Bush was on everyone's radar ever since he first took down Ma Richards. It wasn't like he came out of nowhere.

That's hardly possible and BTW, "to" is spelled TOO, when used as you used that word.

Only in as much as those who don't agree, don't know the facts. All I have done is post FACTS; unlike so many others.

I was on the last page of this thread and wasn't following along, so I wasn't misunderstanding anything!

I was just approaching the divorce issue from a business perspective with that market share comment.

Almost everyone is divorced in America and at least Rudy is married now! Contrast with the Klintons. Phony marriage. Phony policies. Phony party.

With a nickname like "No Pardons" two years before Clinton issued any?

I've been onboard here for seven or eight years, reading and posting.

Bush was a well-discussed topic prior to his announcement, which was timed to evince an air of inevitability.

As was discussed at length on this board at that time.

Sadly, most people have either forgotten or never knew the FACTS about Reagan, but they post all manner of gobbledygook about him, nonetheless. :-(

And not only was he divorced, but Nancy was preggers when they married.

None of that takes away from the fact that he was a terrific president.

He can be a Street Fighter if he needs to be

Oh yes he can. I've been thinking a lot about Rudy today. Rudy took on organized crime and gutted it. He cleaned up New York City when nobody thought that was possible. Then, for a Grande Finale, he walked toward the fire and became the hero of 9-11. Rudy has bigger cojones than anybody else in the field. I'm going to wait and see what he has to say about the social issues before I make up my mind.

He "came out of nowhere", in 1999, when he declared he was going to run for president!

I WAS here; you weren't! I DO know what I'm talking about. Go read all of the surviving threads, from 1998, in FR's archives!
