Aha!! There IS a religious left!! And they are roundly scorned by the remainder of the left. (shrug) It's not any easier on the Democratic side to have principles than it is on this side. I believe government should be TOTALLY secular for a host of reasons, not the least of which is that it protects religion. I've watched with curiosity as religious leaders have gotten into bed with politicians - and that's what you get when you mix the two. I also believe the framers kept church and state separate for a reason and a good one. As we let religion creep into the state, these kinds of flame wars and counterproductive divisions distract from other issues (NUMEROUS issues) that couldn't care a whit about religion. Finally, although I'm not an atheist (I'm Protestant), there ARE atheists and jews and muslims and buddhists and sikhs who are Americans and deserve the right to be protected from one religion or another. Keeping it out of government accomplishes that and delivers the promise of secular Democracy, which is what we ARE.

What we have is offically sanctioned and taxpayer supported atheism.

And it ISN'T good. It is the death force behind associated evils including unresttriced abortion and gay marriage.

It isn't working. It is killing us.

I suspect the American people would have had less of a stomach for that, never mind the fact that the world is bursting with bad guys who, according to your logic, we should be removing.

Where were all you "moderates" back in the 90's when we were bombing Serbia back to the stone age (and killing thousands of civilians in the process). What exactly was the national security rationale for removing Milsoevic?

Hi DC, Keeping it out of government accomplishes that and delivers the promise of secular Democracy, which is what we ARE.

No. that is what the left is trying to make us. It is not what we are.

The first amendment was written in the context of the Judeo-Christian ethic that underpins the entirety of Western Civilization.

Any extrapolation of that right which causes it to attack it's own root is DOOM.

That is exactly what the liberal/socialist interpretation of "separation of church and state" is doing... Destroying the Judeo-Christian root. Without that root we will certainly fail.

We were founded a Christian nation. We have been a Christian nation. We ARE a Christian nation, even yet.

But our slow drift into European socialism has infected us deeply. Everything that was right is now wrong, and everything that was wrong is now "right".

do yourself a favor and compare pre-60's say (1920-1950's) statistics against today.

Look at divorce rates, abortion rates, teen pregnancies, unwed mothers, orphaned children, drug addiction. Look at how many 12, 14, and 18 year old children were having sex. How about pedophilia? Look at crime rates, strength of families, psychological health of everybody, care of the elderly.

Look at the welfare state, and the cost of health. Look at the tax rate vs. the ability of folks to save money. Look at how much of the country left their doors and windows open at night and their cars unlocked.

Talk to folks that are old enough to remember, don't just take the word of the MSM. Take a trip to the country (South, West, Mid-west small town) where it is still the way it WAS to a great extent.

In the light of what you'll find, try to justify your position and the liberal/socialist democrat agenda. I doubt you can.

Conservatives are not trying to change America, We're trying to change it back into what it has always been.

Bruce
