Democrat Reid elected Senate majority leader

U.S. Sen. Harry Reid (news, bio, voting record), a moderate Nevada Democrat, was elected by colleagues on Tuesday as U.S. Senate majority leader for the 110th Congress that will convene in January.

Reid, like most fellow Democrats, favors a phased withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq, a major issue in last week's elections that saw Democrats win control of the Senate and House of Representatives from President George W. Bush's Republicans.

Reid has served the past two years as Senate minority leader. He replaced Tom Daschle, who was ousted by voters in his home state of South Dakota in 2004 after being denounced as "the chief obstructionist" to Bush's conservative agenda.

Democrats also elected Dick Durbin of Illinois as assistant Senate majority leader. He has been Senate assistant minority leader since January 2005.

moderate?

There are no more liberals in the Democrat Party, didn't you know that?

I wonder what they are going to call Pelosi.

Probably 'progressive'

Note what the Democrats ran on, not liberalism, but honest gov't.

They are going to have a hard time selling that to the voters the next time around.

I'm hungering for some political 'bloodsport'.

No political 'bloodsport' without the MSM. The sheeple will be fed the MSM novacaine for the next two years. Peace will be felt from sea to shining sea. The Dems, via the MSM, will instill a new "sense" of calm.

If the MSM could succeed in NOT showing the good out of Iraq for three years, it can most surely show a peaceful America now that the rightful owners of power are back.

This is too good to be true, Reid in the Senate and Murtha in the House. Both have ethical issues and both could end up under indictment and really embarrassing the party.

What was that Pelosi said about being the most "ethical" Congress ever?

Without the ethical issue it is still good to have Reid and Murtha as their standard-bearer. They are both pathetic speakers who step on their own dick all the time.

This is great! Thanks DemoRats for the help.

That's right, but who cares about the law? Who cares about right and wrong? Heck, who from that lot of Libocrats cares for the U.S.?

They are SO going to screw up this country...

For the MSM almost all Dems are moderates and almost all Republicans are extremists.

When your perspective is from the left that is how things look.

They can (and will) be dragged into it, even though they will struggle mightily to hide and confuse and obstruct... The right headline on Drudge can move mountains...

Blame the drive-by's for that one.
They continued to hammer Republicans nonstop, 24/7, on "corruption", while totally ignoring the most corrupt sleazy congressmen there were, Dingy Harry and William Jefferson, both of course RATS.

The guy fails to report a dubious land deal put together by his friend a casino owner, fails to report the transfer of land to another friend in which he has invested monies, accepts donations from the China fund raiser John Huang, then promotes the Senate confirmation of the judge who lets him off and now he is elected to Senate Majority Leader by the dems.

What tha?

Hey...Harry hasn't been convicted on any shady land deal. In fact...he quickly corrected his mistakes after it hit the press. You can knock him out of his job if he is convicted or takes a young intern...thats about it.

Its part of the new RATS "most corruption free congress in history" imitative. :)
