The Navy addendum is a few items short. I don't see anything there about movie call, for instance. Or ice cream. What would be the point of a gunfight without movie call and ice cream?

I don't know about gunfights, but I can tell you what to bring along on Shore Patrol when you're a 125-lb LTJG. A very, very large Marine. And a 300-lb Samoan Boatswain's Mate. It's amazing what it does for one's command authority...

You're right about the boatswains mate,but he doesn't have to be 300 lbs.In my experience,ANY boatswains mate is a force to be reckoned with.

I see they missed the point about including Naval Gun Fire Support (NGFS) in your plan. I never met a Marine that would turn down NGFS when available. It is very hard to beat the accuracy of a naval gun. (p)Artillery lends dignity to what would otherwise be a vulgar brawl.

FWIW - I am qualified to operate the Mk8 Rangekeeper as part of the Fire Control system that controls the Mk7 16"/50 caliber guns of the Iowa Class Battleships. I was at Damn Neck, VA when President Reagan decided to bring back the battleships. We broke the trainers out of storage and got smart fast. I wish I could have gotten to actually direct live fire. One of my Uncles (USNA '41) was in the forward turret of the USS Washington when it sank the Kirishima in WWII.
