I appreciate he is a friend of yours, but I am skeptical for the following reasons - and none of them have to do with his positions on the issues:

1. What experience does he have in a role like this? Has he been in a similar position of responsibility in the Florida Republican Party?
2. This role requires being able to do streetfighting every single day not just against the Democrats but the media. Rangel is a doddering old fool - how well is he prepared for this?
3. He's a full time Senator. This is a full time job. Does the man intend not to sleep or what?
4. Fundraising abilities. Well, how is he at that?

It is absolutely vital that the Republican Party get its act together for 2008 - Hillary CANNOT CANNOT CANNOT be allowed to lead the Free World. Martinez can be a lovely fellow - I have no doubt he's a good man - but still not be the right man for the job.
