Fear is quite a weapon. It is not at all surprising that the global warming crowd has employed it. As they must see it, the longer we procrastinate on the issue, the more likely it is that their claims will be shown up for what they are -- bogus claims made in an effort to extort money from every entity that has it! LOL
Finally Tore has had enough and asks, “Is there anything at all a kid like me can do?”
The “Sea Mother” tells him of the dangerous effects that an oil- and gas-based energy system has on the climate, and the “Sea Mother” singles out the industrialized world as the cause of her predicted climate catastrophe.
“Rich countries use — and waste — an awful lot of energy. Huge cars. Too many cars instead of efficient trains and buses,” the “Sea Mother explains to Tore. [EPW Fact: Several developing world nations will soon pass the U.S. in greenhouse gas emissions. China alone will pass the U.S. in emissions in 2009. ]
Finally, the “Sea Mother” tells Tore that the solution to the climate crisis can begin in his Arctic village by “setting up solar panels to get electricity from the sun, and modern windmills to capture the energy of the wind.”
The book ends with a section answering the question “What can you do?” The book's answer includes such suggestions as “join or create an environmental club,” “only drive cars if you must,” and “write to your political leaders.”

To me the most irritating thing about the global warming scare mongers is their unwillingness to acknowledge evidence contrary to their "faith".
There's evidence of warming on both mars and pluto but the church of global warming refuses to even talk about it.

The last 20,000 years of global warming are a normal fluctuation of earth's 5 billion year geology. The UN and Al Gore will once again be buried under gigantic glaciers, not a moment too soon in my book.

Yep, they're in a panic from the studies showing that global warming never hit the Southern Hemisphere at all, ice sheets are actually growing at both poles, and even the Northern Hemisphere hasn't seen any temperature increase in the last EIGHT YEARS.
Just minor little observations from something I like to call science. You know, that methodology that requires not forming an opinion based on the grant money you're looking for, but actually depends on data ?
I wish the environmental cause would go back to the pollution arguments (I like clean air to breathe) and give up the scare tactics about climate changes wiping out the human race.

Funny how they fear the planet getting warmer, but don't fear radical islam.
I don't know what the UN was like at the beginning, but these days it sure seems like a forum for a bunch of petty tyrants to blame the West and milk us for money.
Hence the purpose of this children's book -- brainwash these kids to blame the West, while they feel good about living in squalor without technology or energy that would improve their lives. Exactly what petty tyrants want from their people.
