Why the hate? Mel wouldn't be my first choice, but he does have the 100% rating from ACU. Despite the attacks on it in this thread the man isn't a RINO. I like Steele, but Steele is a RINO, remember the "off record" bashing he gave the GOP to the Post a few months ago. If you are a conservative than Mel is much better for you than Steele. Second MEl is also a sitting Senator, which means he won't be able to do day-to-day operations. He is a figure head design to attract some more Hispanic votes to the GOP. The key is who will be the number two man, and what are his/her qualifications.
Don't worry; a bunch of posters would be here freaking out if Steele were chosen, complaining about much the same things.

Exactly why I like him. Or Tancredo. The GOP needed a bashing for being mealy-mouthed wimps. We've got to stop thinking "GOP", as if that's the be-all and end-all; it's not. We've got to get in to the mindset of "conservative" -- people who love America, its values, its traditions and its LAWS. We have LAWS that require immigrants to come here in a prescribed manner, and many of the "GOP", starting at the TOP, want to reward them for their illegal activities. Conservatives happen to think everyone should follow the law and play by the rules to save our country.
