Giving credit where it's due...I found this article because of the story / commentary written about it in The Jawa Report

The Jawa Report Wear a Hajib-Turban Day

November 12, 2006

Wear a Hajib/Turban Day

(Fremont, California) Attention, readers! Tomorrow is "Wear a Hijab/Turban to Work/School Day" in Fremont. Among others, the event is being promoted by the Foundation for Self-Reliance, the American Muslim Alliance and SEMAH, a domestic violence group.

From InsideBayArea.com:

"This is more than just 'wear a hijab or turban' day," said Samina F. Sundas, founder of the Newark-based American Muslim Voice and Global Peace Partners. "It's about educating each other about our differences and recognizing that we should focus on what binds us together."

The idea for the event originated days after Alia Ansari, a 38-year-old Afghan woman from Fremont, was gunned down Oct. 19 as she walked with her 3-year-old daughter to pick up some of her other children from an elementary school.

Police have yet to declare a motive in the Ansari case, but the perception among some in the community is that the shooting had to be a hate crime because Ansari was wearing a hijab, the traditional Muslim head scarf.

So, although the police haven't identified a motive in the Ansari killing, the Muslim community is taking immediate corrective action against hate crime. Notably, this response is consistent with Muslim reactions to perceived hate crimes in other regions of the globe. In those cases, however, corrective measures are more strident. Instead of 'Wear a Hajib/Turban,' everyone is simply encouraged to don an explosive vest.

Presumably, the next time a Jew is killed in a suspected hate crime, organizers will promote a "Wear a Star of David/Yarmulka to Work/School Day." Of course, don't expect the media to pleasantly encourage the public to participate.

Doesn't say you have to wear it on your HEAD. A hijab/turban on your foot or nethers might be stylish, and send a message.

This reminds me of a movie. I can't remember the name of it. But it take place on a college campus.. The Professor is going to start a new "club".. it begins by him being the second of command and will give the identity of the #1 later in the year..

so these kids start doing the things he asks.. because it makes them cool. eventually he reveals their leader at a large rally... They're "leader" is Adolf Hitler..

I'm telling this because i feel the MSM is doing much of the same thing.. They are making "being a Muslim Extremist" the cool thing to do.. which frightens the hell out of me.

A nether-turban could be the next fashion craze....I expect Victoria's Secret to come out with a model just in time for Ramadan ("Intensified slaughter and rape month") next year.

I will NEVER forget the she-dogs whose first recation to 9/11 was to try to show "solidarity" with moslem women by donning headscarves. They did this because they just ASSumed that all Americans outside of their little clique are xenophobic neanderthals just itching to kill anyone who looked "foreign". This hosted day reeks of that mindset.

Hm... In most cases, emulating a religion or religious garb that one does not adhere to would generally be called a "mockery".

This is funny on so many levels.

Will employees also be encouraged to bring Kalashnikov rifles to work and shoot them up in the air in the parking lot?

It's all part of the culture.

Hm... In most cases, emulating a religion or religious garb that one does not adhere to would generally be called a "mockery".

Except in cases where an attempt is being made to score political points.

As the Jawa report points out, I'm wondering if the Muslim leaders will be equally eager to recommend that everyone wear a Yarmulke or a Star of David the next time a Jew is murdered by a local jihadist, as a show of support and solidarity?

Only when it's being timed to coincide with an El Al overflight.

I'd wear a beanie with a propeller.

I was thinking along the lines of a fake-blood stained turban with the Danish "Allah" cartoons attached to it.

I wouldn't wear it in areas where children might see it, though...I wouldn't want to frighten them.  The actions of the real jihadists are quite frightening enough.
