From what McCrazy insinuated this morning, the President can appoint him by executive order.

Sounds good to me. Bolton has been the very best thing to happen to the UN since Kirkpatrick!

I like him too. You can tell some of the Dems are already stone drunk on power and they haven't even been sworn in yet!!

I agree. But the rumors coming out about the ISG report say that it recommends that our policy towards the Middle East be re-evaluated, including having direct talks with Syria and Iran and having a more "even-handed" policy towards Israel and the Muslim world. If the President goes along with the recommendations, then Bolton would not fit in with this new policy and he will probably be replaced. I think that putting up his name for confirmation was just going through the motions to appease the Republican base and the Administration knew he wouldn't be confirmed.

The fact that Bush has nominated someone for Defense Secretary who is a member of the ISG is a pretty good indication of Administration intentions. This is very sad.
