#716, it really would not have been a problem if there had not been serious division in the Community. Most People were very happy with our Candidate, the few radical right were a bit misguided and will be better next time. It was the Demrats that were really bad, and using the slurs, thinking that it was funny. We have cleansed ourselves of the really divisive People(former Republicans) in the Community and most of the time everyone gets along. We are confident that things will be so much better and we don't have to use drastic measures, mostly just code enforcement so that there are not 15 People living in a House made for 3,and making sure that Contractors are licensed and not hiring illegals to build Houses that they have no clue how to construct. Really simple things that will make a difference and tone down the rhetoric.

On another thread last night, many also suggested Jeff Sessions (AL)

Flood the lines tomorrow morning and tell them we are mad as hell and we want new, hard right, faces in leadership or they can expect more of the same in '08.

To express support:

Sen. Jeff Sessions (AL)
DC # 202-224-4124

Sen. Jon Kyl (AZ)
DC # 202-224-4521

To express objections:

Sen. Trent Lott
DC # 202-224-6253

Sen. Lamar Alexander
DC # 202-224-4944

It's up to us to take back OUR country!!!

#717, just curious are you answering my comment about the talk show people as including you? If you are, you are way off, they have humor once in a while and get paid for their comments, and I do not attack freepers, and I never would include them as talk Show Hosts unless they actually have a show like one of our favorite freepers.

Unfortunately Mr. Kyl won't challenge Lott. I really just don't understand why.

You have got it tagged perfectly AC! From my perspective I want to turn everyone I see anywhere into a hardcore conservative. I am somewhat less than successfully and have to settle for the best I can do.

We may be forced to settle at the top of the ticket as well, it would be nice to dial up Tommy Franks and Norman Schwarzkopf and say "come on down" but as much as we need war time generals at a time of war they are both probably unelectable. My tack is to get Conservatives where I can, when I can and always scream for more.

I have been frustrated at the lack of "fight back" that President Bush has used re: the War in Iraq...but, I have told myself that the reason he doesn't give speeches, or let his surrogates tell about those things, like the WMDS and such...is national security.

I think he feels that since the war is critical to our safety..and it is still in a precarious spot...for HIM to just try to justify himself..at the expense of possible "secrets" being told that could harm our troops or our strategy...he isn't going to do.

Re: the lack of prosecution of Sandy Berger and others...I have no idea...

As far as the Republicans that want to distance themselves because they are "tired of carrying his water"...they need to get with OTHER Republicans like Specter and Graham and McCain...that have spent this whole time telling President Bush that they are EQUAL to him.

Either the Congresscritters are responsible for themselves as EQUALS...or they feel it is President Bush's job to HELP them do theirs....can't have it both ways.

No wonder he doesn't trust people.

My post was not meant to be accusatory but an attempt to "extend and revise" (as they say on CSPAN) on your remarks. I'm in the same boat you are (though the ancestor who brought my family name came over as a slave after being on the losing side in the last Jacobite rebellion, not on the Mayflower). Having been born in Texas and lived in California along with having family all up and down the spine of the Rockies, including Albuquerque, I have broad exposure to the cultures of our Southwest and of Mexico. They are part of our country. I just don't like those who say that it is their country exclusively. Neither do the Asians, blacks and most particularly the Indians who live in those lands now.

I have a "native American" friend from The Nations in New Mexico.  He hates the term "native Americans" because it implies some special status because they were here "first" and he's afraid that some new archaeological discovery will wipe that out, "proving" folks from New Zealand or Africa were here "first."  He wants to claim his right to be here because he is part of this land and loves it and he makes it better.  And he and his people (mostly) welcome anyone who does the same.  He is also a member of the Minuteman project . His people are some of the most vehement about stopping illegal immigration as much of it happens on their land, which is trashed in the process, and it's the minimum wage entry level jobs that kids from their community need that are going to these guys who work off the books and for lower wages.  But in his group of Minutemen are several Hispanics, some born here some who actually came here illegally. When the La Reconquista folks talk about taking back "their land" he and his friends say "bring it on, Mexican boy. We kicked your butts in the 1700s and 1800s, we'll do it again today! Don't even go there, Senor Conquistador!"

Did you know that some Hispanics and Indians in the Southwest with long memories and traditions celebrate the heroes of the Alamo and the eventual defeat of Santa Anna as a great victory for them, as well?  There was never a fondness for the Mexican government (whatever flag it flew, but particularly Spanish or French) in the area that makes up our Southwest.  That is a fiction of recent invention.

#741, I have been noticing this for many years, and I finally refuse to listen to any of the Sport Shows even though I am interested in the Dolphins still, and can get Miami Stations where I live now. It is so unrestrained, and harmful. I feel so bad for some of the Players that just get out of College and are getting beat up literally and try their best, and then they get dissed by a Jerk that sits on his butt safe and sound in a Studio. I quit going to the games because of the Nasty fans, getting drunk and belligerent encouraged by the Sports talk Dudes.

When CNN can run a special called "Broken Government" over and over and over, the week preceding the vote...they are NOT giving both sides, they are pushing their agenda.

I heard Mary Matalin complain about this on Hannity and Colmes...why hasn't anyone at the RNC COMPLAINED LOUDLY!!!

This is ridiculous that the MSM can openly campaign for a party and candidate....and no one worries about this.

######

Can you give me a few examples of how we or the RNC should have effectively complained about the CNN programming? I am out of ideas. Do we call our congressman? Sorry for the sick humor, but I feel sick right now, every time I think about how the 527media won this election for the dems.

Great stuff here Phsstpok, seems no matter who you are or what your origin if you have a taste for the laws of our land outrage is present with our current border fiasco.

#747,lets see if we can drum up some commericals for The DNC to give to Kristol to read. It would serve two purposes, The Rats would scream and Fox would fire him. LOL!

I am convinced that Bill Kristol is causing more trouble than he is worth. I still think he engineered the Jeffords jump. He only supported the President during the Iraq invasion, and that, I think, was because he had pushed for it and was almost certain that Bush wouldn't invade, so he was stuck supporting it until he could figure out a way to weasel out of that position.

Maybe I was hoping that Frist or Ken Mehlman might have called a presser and requested that someone check to see if it is "legal" for a television channel to basically campaign for one party, the week preceding a vote??

I have heard Harry Reid and other dems make some of the most outrageous allegations that he feels that the GOP have done...and he isn't ever called out for it.

Maybe the GOP needs to quit being so "nice" and "gentlemanly"...

I wasn't accusing US...I have no clue what WE could do, more than we did.

Maybe if Bill O'Reilly or Hannity had said something on their TV shows...about what CNN was pulling..had a GOP congresscritter on, to ask them their opinion???

Just grasping here, maica....just grasping.

Ahh, the dulcet tones of sweet Samantha!

I've explained my position. You've called names.

For the 8 years of GWB's presidency, he had a decent first half - marred by too many liberals positions but redeemed by his stand on the WOT.

He has had a rotten 3rd quarter. I've explained why. His failure to lead on Iraq and Afghanistan are a disturbing failure. His failure to hammer out-of-control republicans has probably regained the dems a position of power.

Now we enter the 4th quarter. Will he choose to fight the liberals, or will he seek to gain positive press by appeasing them. Will we see the GWB of the first half, or of the third quarter?

On that, his legacy depends.

Immigration is a needlessly divisive issue. IF the Republicans would say, "Seal the border first, then everything else can be on the table" - then prove it by actions - they would gain the trust of the anti-illegal immigration folks and prepare them to accept whatever measures may follow.

It is the amnesty first approach that has bled support for immigration reform. Many of us, living with the results daily, see this 'total approach' as a smoke screen to AVOID sealing the borders...so cheap labor can come across (and hispanics can vote for dems by a 2:1 margin). The fiscal republicans get what they want, and the dems get what they want, but those who believe assimilation is needed for a united country are tossed out.

If these concerns seem too negative for you - tough. It is the failure of Republicans to examine our own house that has cost us the House.
