We are in Iraq not just to defend the Iraqis, but to defend OUR OWN SECURITY. If we withdraw too early, the terrorists will take over Iraq and will institute a Taliban or Iran like terrorist state, from which to influence the Middle East and perpetrate terror attacks against us.
THEN we will see not 3000 casualties in Iraq, but 300,000 civilian casualties in the US, or more, when the terrorists will attack us with WMD.

"THEN we will see not 3000 casualties in Iraq, but 300,000 civilian casualties in the US, or more, when the terrorists will attack us with WMD." That is PURE B.S.
If that's the case, they can do it from IRAN now, from Lebanon, from Syria, and any ENEMY country that has the infrastructure to carry that out.

Out of curiousity, what is our current military presence in Iraq doing to prevent terrorists from acquiring or using WMDs against us? If you're talking about an ICBM based attack on the US, Iran is the biggest threat. If you are talking about a WMD smuggled into the country, the variety of terrorist groups funded by Saudi and Iranian petrodollars combined with our own stupid open borders policy and refuse to build the great wall of China is the biggest threat.
So how does Iraq figure into this equation again?
