Sen. Trent Lott is being coy about whether he'll run for minority whip in the GOP leadership elections slated for Wednesday. But while Lott plays his cards close to his vest, his presumptive rival, Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., has already declared himself the winner.

Alexander? Didn't he work behind the scenes to try to weasel an income tax on Tennesseeans? I don't trust him.

Yes he did and I don't trust him neither. I'm from East Tennessee. He is a U.S. Senator at the expense of one who was an electable proved Conservative a former House Manager. Lamar got a heads up on Fred Thompson's retirement and an immediate White house endorsement before anyone else better could speak up for the seat. Of course he was like many a friend of Poppy. Lamar was a so so governor who looked gret due to replacing a felon governor.

LOL! They're my Senators, too - so I feel your pain. Call or email Jeff Sessions, Tom Coburn and/or Ken Mehlman at RNC. I do think we also need to let Tony Snow know as he should be able to help put a word in for us and the good senators.

Good LORD! With people like Sessions, Cornyn, Kyl etc. why is the republican party putting up people who will cause the entire country to doze off to sleep. Larmar is a really good man, but we need someone who can get out there and talk up the republican agenda and fight the dems on their lunatic attempts to socialize the entire country.

That's interesting onyx. You know, most of those seats will disappear after the next census.

I hadn't thought of that, but you're right.

JD is still alive. I hope he wins.

We have horrendous growth here in Arizona, and most of the sunbelt states are being inundated with easterners who are leaving their states behind. Disadvantage is they are diluting the conservative votes (until we manage to convince them how wrong they are) good part is those liberal eastern states lose representative every census while we gain them. Eventually, New York will have as many reps as Alabama does now.

This is getting depressing! Don't they ever learn!

Now we are going to be the party of retreads. All of Poppy Bush's guys are the war advisors.

Now the old 'has been' cave-ins are wanting to take over the House & Senate leadership!

Lord help us!

We need some new blood and somebody with some guts & back-bone.

We owe that to our troops.

Wasn't it Lott who agreed to evenly "share" the Senate with the rats when it was 50 - 50, even though Cheney was the tie-breaker?

Lott or Lamar? Two lackluster (or worse) Southerners...

Heaven help us!

Yes, that was Lott. It was also Lott who allowed that split to happen by doing nothing to keep that jackass Jim Jeffords in the fold.

Lott is a has-been. Frist is gone.

Move forward, not backward....there are plenty of new people around.

Harry Reid is an intelligent man...we need someone of his skill and potential.

Preferrably someone younger than 65 too.

"I remember saying No one could be worse than Lott. Then we got Frist"

I thought Frist would be better too.

I was so sorely dissappointed. To think that Frist has the temerity to even think of running for President after the LOUSY job he did is amazing.

I have a question, does JUNIOR draw a House pension for the 10 years he served and how much?
