Sen. John McCain, considered the front-runner for the 2008 Republican presidential nomination, intends to launch an exploratory committee next week, party officials said Friday.
The officials spoke on condition of anonymity to avoid pre-empting a public statement from the four-term Arizona senator.
McCain, the Republican maverick who unsuccessfully sought his party's nomination in 2000, already has opened a bank account for the committee, officials said.
"The senator has made no decision about running for president," said Eileen McMenamin, a McCain spokeswoman.
Aides to McCain say the senator will discuss a presidential bid with his family over the end-of-the-year Christmas holiday.
McCain, 70, is a former U.S. Navy pilot who was a prisoner of war in Vietnam. He was elected to the Senate in 1986, and served in the House of Representatives for four years before that.

Wow you're fast!
Thats exactly what I thought the results would be(Rudy would win)
I know he's not a "Pure Conservative" but I like him for some reason, some people are just likable I guess OR maybe we just respect them for what they have accomplished.

McCain is a passive puke that contributed to the loss of the Republican control of both Houses. He master minded the gang of 14 RINO's in support of the DemoRATS.
I have noticed how hard the Dems want to NOW work bipartisain, because they fear that the Republicans will do exactly what they did for last 12 years, obstruct, bitch and complain about EVERYTHING, micro complain about the war in Iraq, block Judicial nominations, lie about war intelligence, hold one investigative committee after another, basically prevent the Republicans from accomplishing anything, and then run against the Republicans failure to get anything done. The Dems had absolutely no agenda of their own, just pointed out the failure of the Republicans.
The Dems could not have gotten away with this fraud upon the American people without the help and support from McCain and his gang of 14 RINO's!
WE need to move forward and push for the conservative agenda, and continue to eliminate the RINO's from the US government. We are off to a very good start, but, we really need to continue to purge them, including McCain!
If McCain thinks he can get elected President after his record, he really is delusional. He has a better chance of becoming the demoRAT that he really is, and then run for President under the DemoRAT party banner.
McCain is nothing but Pain in the a$$ for the conservative party! We do not need another RINO President.

Rudy got about 50%, Romney somewhat more than half that, McCain about 4%, and sit it out the rest, as I recall. You can pull up the poll if you wish. I may be a bit off, but not by much.

I don't like McCain either, and he would never be my #1 choice for president, but what if he was Romney's VP? Romney would sweep up the Northeast and with McCain on board we might even win California? Too crazy?

As someone said earlier: "that's crazy talk!"
