And rightly so. Bush screwed the pooch on that one. Here, you've got the opposition party running on 'A new direction in Iraq' and you could have taken that entirely away from them a couple weeks before the election. Bush's action was beyond dumb on this.

I don't think removing Rummy during the election cycle would have done any good. The terrorists in Iraqi would feel emboldened to step up their October murder spree. Also the rATS could say, "See, the Bush Doctrine is a failure."

You would not have taken away anything. Blood would have been in the water and even more seats would have been lost. Your contention is not any more valid than mine.
