After spending time on visits to Parris Island and Camp Lejeune, welcoming home Marines from their Iraq deploy , how could I not in my heart sum it up in this way.
Semper Fi PS. I felt like a young man in my prime during those visits. And even had the opportunity to do four full military chin ups in the PT building to emphasize to some who where having problems making the score, that they could do it if an old 58 year old grey haired guy could do it. My nephew was asked to spend some time at the PT building to give them a pep talk, and I asked if I could enter the building with him, then had to butt in, and prove the point if I could do it, they most certainly could. I often wonder how many just might have been a bit inspired by an old civilian making the four chin ups on their bar, to choose to become Marines and not go home.
I feel I did a tiny contribution to the Corps. in welding kids into becoming fine young men, Marines, the few, the proud. God bless them.
