No, I am still young enough for mandatory service. I would never expect others to do something I am not willing to do.Nothing is stopping your from volunteering. Just don't volunteer me or my kids.

I think that pretty much puts the kibosh on any kind of "national service" requirement (except as a punishment for a crime).

No one said your kids had to do any volunteering. I just think it is a good thing, but others do not. I can live with that.
I wish everyone had the chance to live for a year overseas and experience a different culture, but not everyone does.
